Parks and Recreation
Love staying active and/or watching sports? Then you’ll love Hiawatha, Iowa. Name a sport and we offer it in the Corridor. We have semi-pro teams in baseball, hockey, football, and soccer. Youth leagues and YMCA programs are available in every sport imaginable. And you can cheer on nearby college teams, including the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.
Hikers, runners, and cyclists love our many miles of pristine trails throughout the county. The Cedar Valley Nature Trail, for example, begins in beautiful Hiawatha and provides 51 miles of scenic land north to Waterloo, Iowa.
Got a pet pooch? Enjoy Hiawatha’s new Dog Park, which is adjacent to the nature trail and features off-leash areas for your four-legged friends.
Golfers can tee off at more than 16 private and public golf courses within a 30-mile radius. That includes the new Mini Pines golf course, located 7 minutes from Hiawatha City Hall. And if snow skiing and snowboarding is more your style, hop in the car and head east to Sundown Mountain Resort in Dubuque or Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, Illinois
If you have children, you’ll love all the opportunities for recreation. Pools and parks are plentiful in the area. Kids can burn off some energy at Hiawatha-based gymnastics and indoor trampoline park options or sign them up for Hiawatha youth sports leagues.
