Instead of using the dealership’s tax break for new equipment or personnel, each full-time employee received a $500 check.

Cedar Rapids Toyota has been around since 1969 and has grown to over 100 employees, a sizeable Hiawatha business by any standard. Handing out the bonus checks was not only a way of giving back to employees but to the community as well. Nearly everyone who works at Cedar Rapids Toyota lives in Hiawatha and the surrounding metro areas, so it’s likely they will spend the money right here in the community and support other local businesses. Getting lunch, going shopping, and paying bills are just a few ways General Manager Chris Langhurst suspects many employees will spend their bonus money.
