Hiawatha Business Spreads The Wealth

Imagine the excitement that echoed throughout Cedar Rapids Toyota as General Manager Chris Langhurst handed a bonus check to each employee this week! Because of recent changes in the federal tax code, Cedar Rapids Toyota owner Scott Ryan decided to reward his hard-working employees in a big way. Instead of using the dealership’s tax break for new equipment or personnel, each full-time employee received a $500 check.

Cedar Rapids Toyota has been around since 1969 and has grown to over 100 employees, a sizeable Hiawatha business by any standard. Handing out the bonus checks was not only a way of giving back to employees but to the community as well. Nearly everyone who works at Cedar Rapids Toyota lives in Hiawatha and the surrounding metro areas, so it’s likely they will spend the money right here in the community and support other local businesses. Getting lunch, going shopping, and paying bills are just a few ways General Manager Chris Langhurst suspects many employees will spend their bonus money.

This local car dealership believes in the power of community and makes every effort to contribute to the success of Hiawatha and its businesses. Cedar Rapids Toyota has been involved in sponsoring the kid’s movie night, Hiawatha Kid League, has made donations to the police department, donating a vehicle to the parks department, and much more. Taking the initiative to invest in the businesses and people of Hiawatha is what will maintain and promote growth for the city for years to come.
